Visa Wellington on a Plate - Festival menu proves popular![]() Wednesday, 1 August 2012 Only 10 days to go before the Visa Wellington on a Plate Festival starts on Friday 10 August to Sunday 26 August. The Wellington Fisher & Paykel MasterClass kicks off the first weekend of Visa Wellington On a Plate and showcases a fantastic mix of talent to suit a range of abilities and tastes. From Tarte Tartin with imaginative chef, author and food stylist, Julie Le Clerc, to industry secrets with internationally acclaimed chef, Ben Shewry, there really is something for everyone. If you missed out on Ruth Pretty's is the moon really made of cheese? You still have a chance to join her for an Enchanted Cinderella Feast at St James Theatre to help her pay a culinary tribute to Mrs Royal, or perhaps rock and rule in Ruth's kitchen. To compliment Wellington's winter cuisine, you may wish to warm up with Te Muna in a glass and the Wellington wine walkabout: The art of testing, tasting and talking Wine. For something different, watch experienced mixologists attempt to create a cocktail that tastes like an American cheeseburger at Hawthorn Lounge burger challenge. Compete for the Social Cooking title at Welly's Best Cooks, or get a group together for a stake-out of different sorts at The Great New York Steak Night. Uncover the inside story with L'affaire au Chocolat's Chocolate out of the Wrapper, or enjoy a creative take on Asian fondues with Modern Asian II. Looking for a picnic with a twist? Purchase tickets to Wai-ella pop-up picnic in the park. Top Wairarapa produce will be served in a rustic chic, pop-up picnic held in Moore Wilson's upstairs car park. If seafood is your weakness, help Cobar restaurant ferry the oysters to the bay, or indulge in a seafood banquet at Shed 5. Be grilled at Artisan Restaurant & Bar where they make meat and seafood tastes like it used to. On the second weekend of the festival, craft beer fans will be hopping to the capital for Beervana, while the final weekend is best for those with a sweet tooth, with the popular New Zealand chocolate festival hitting town.
