I have been in the Hospitality business for approximately 20 years. My first Hotel was the Awakino Hotel in North Taranaki for approximately four years.

After selling that I moved to Red Beach on the Whangaparoa Peninsula where I had set up a new sports bar for six years. I decided to take a break from Hospitality for two years but got itchy feet and purchased The Grand Tavern in Te Aroha in 2005. Coincidently Te Aroha is my hometown where Sue and I have been enjoying being back home for the last 10 and a half years.

I have been President of the Hospitality NZ Thames Valley Coromandel Branch for the past 15 years and thoroughly enjoy the tasks it presents.

My outside interests are family, rugby and I am very much involved in Outdoor Bowls. Currently I am the President of our Local Bowling Club (Tui Kar) and this year (in 2015) I was elected to the Board of Bowls Thames Valley.

I have hosted the Hospitality NZ North Island Bowls twich at Tui Park in Te Aroha. I am also a regular participant in the Bacardi Bowls Tournament hosted by Hospitality NZ Board members. In November 2015 I will be travelling to Greymouth to play in the Barcardi Bowls Tournament. I am also involved in the local rugby club - Te Aroha College Old Boys whom I incidently played for in the late 1960s.

I have two daughters and three grandchildren who lieve in Hamilton and a stepson who lives in Canberra.
