Russell has a wealth of experience at Senior Executive, Chief Executive & Director level in roles across a number of different industry sectors, including banking and finance, legal publishing and sports and event management and hospitality.

His skills have been developed through executive experience in managing operations, divisions, units and businesses from start-ups through to the New Zealand operation of a global multi-national. He has exposure to both public and private sectors in New Zealand and experience working with foreign markets including Australia, USA, and the UK.

Russell has worked in most business cycles, spanning times of growth, business development, mergers and acquisitions and product innovation and also in times of economic decline requiring business consolidation, retrenchment and product and market withdrawal.

Russell has been heavily involved in the hospitality sector through Good Group since 2008. He is a Director and Shareholder in that Group and was Queenstown based until his shift to Auckland in October 2012.

Hospitality is in his blood having grown up in Canterbury/South Canterbury where his parents ran a number of Hotels including The Madeira in Akaroa, The Terminus in Timaru, Burkes Pass Hotel and Gladstone Grand in Fairlie and The Gretna in Taihape. Russell has been recently elected as President of Hospitality NZ Auckland and Chaired their Local Alcohol Policy Working Party. Russell was on the Board of Destination Queenstown from 2009-2012. Russell completed an MBA through Henley in the UK in 1998, has a Diploma in Banking from Massey University, was a Fellow of FINSIA (Finance & Securities Institute of Australasia) and is a Chartered Member of the NZ Institute of Directors.
