Hospitality New Zealand is questioning the validity of the Auckland Council’s proposed targeted rate on commercial accommodation.

Under the new Shop Trading Act, employees cannot be forced to work on Easter Sunday. For hospitality businesses this means bar, restaurants and cafe employers need to ask their staff four weeks in advance (by Sunday 19 March) if they would like to work that day.
